As much of a bleeding heart treehugger as I am, I’ve just never been able to get into the whole vegan leather thing. Partially because, materials-wise, it’s usually a petro-chem horror-show. But also because it really doesn’t feel / wear / look the same. So, all propers due to Veja for coming up with what might be the first not terrible vegan leather alternative. These new Campo Sneakers are crafted out cotton that’s coated with a resin made from corn waste, and that, apparently, has all the good qualities of leather, but without the murder and methane. Pretty fricking nifty.
