And the comeuppances keep on coming. Terry Richardson, fashion’s Rasputin-like, camera-toting bridge troll, is officially under investigation for sexual assault by the NYPD, according to The New York Daily News.
The paper is reporting that Richardson is “the focus of a new investigation by the NYPD’s Special Victims Squad… [following] a Dec. 15 cover story in The News detailing new allegations of sexual assault against the 52-year-old former fashion industry star.”
Besides the essential guarantee that this entire ordeal will ultimately be memorialized on an episode of Law & Order: SVU, this one now stands as one of the first #metoo cases that could actually lead to criminal charges.
“Multiple women confirmed [last Tuesday] that investigators from the elite unit have reached out in recent weeks, asking for sit-down meetings regarding the lurid lensman.”
The allegations are startling (and too NSFW to print here), and — if true — paint a terrifying picture of the closed door, under-policed culture of fashion photography.
Richardson, for his part, “has consistently argued all his sexual interactions with models were consensual.”
