JNCO is Going out of Business (Again)

Menswear is currently in the midst of a Wide Pant Renaissance (shoutout comfortable clothing), but the fading glory of skinny jeans couldn’t save JNCO — makers of the widest wide pants — from going out of business for a second time.

As reported by The Cut, the label announced last week that “it will be shutting down for good,” a move that should surprise no one who has ever actually seen the jeans.

Still one of the ‘90s most inexplicable trends, JNCO — which stands for Judge None Choose One — had faded into obscurity in the early aughts, but then decided to make a comeback run a few years ago, for reasons that still remain unclear.

(Fun fact: four years back, someone launched a change.org petition entitled “Bring back old school JNCO Jeans,” which got a whopping nine signatures.)

Per The Cut, the company, “chalked up their closure to ‘licensing issues’,” however, the article also posits that “we, as a society, have moved on to new pastures of unflattering pants.”

“While this is an end of an era for JNCO, what JNCO stands for will continue to live on in all of our customers and fans who will carry on the spirit of our brand and all it represents,” JNCO wrote on their site, before signing off with, “Judge None Choose One, now and forever! Stay true JNCO lovers!”

Rave, rave against the dying of the JNCO light.
