A Harrowing Journey to Trump’s Chinese Tie Factory

Racked recently published a lengthy – and very entertaining – story by writer Spencer Woodland, who traveled all the way to Shengzhou, China in hopes of locating the factory that makes Trump’s Donald J. Trump brand ties.

The article also chronicles the rise of globalization as it pertains to apparel manufacturing, highlighting the activities and involvement of both Bill and Hilary Clinton, as well as Trump. And, it provides some interesting insight into why Trump needed to license his name, as his most prized business ventures foundered.

As for the factory that makes the ties (yes, he does find it – spoiler, sorry), interviews with the employees there reveal poor working conditions and meager pay – sadly, pretty much what you’d expect, given the region and the product.

You can read the whole article at Racked (it’s a long one, but worth it).
