Fashion Brands Join Boycott of Trump-Supporting SoulCycle Owner

Following news that billionaire Stephen Ross would be hosting a Hamptons fundraiser for Donald Trump, multiple fashion brands have pulled planned New York Fashion Week shows from the Ross-owned Hudson Yards venue, according to Quartz.

“Equinox and SoulCycle have been facing threats of a boycott since word spread that Stephen Ross, billionaire chairman of the high-end fitness brands’ parent company, would host a Hamptons fundraiser for Donald Trump,” the story explains. “Now fashion brands are adding to the backlash… with label Rag & Bone joining Prabal Gurung in abandoning plans to stage its New York Fashion Week show at Hudson Yards, the expensive real-estate development and mall built by Ross’s Related Companies.”

It’s not just real-estate holdings that ties one of Trump’s biggest donors to the fashion industry, however. Ross’ wife, Jewelry Designer Kara Ross, currently “holds a seat on the board of US fashion’s governing body, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA),” and her continued involvement has caused at least one prominent designer to cancel her membership with the organization.
