Welcome to Cool Dads™, a series in which our resident cool dad, Nick Grant, helps us all get dressed.

Seriously, how have four years passed since this little dude came along and turned my life upside down? You can ask my buddies I grew up with: I wasn’t “dad” material (read: I was a real asshole). But between meeting – and getting set straight by – my wife, and then my son entering into this world, I’ve grown more than I could have imagined I ever would. And knowing that I can not only keep a little human alive for this long, but prospering, is just, like, wow.

My hope for him this birthday, is that he gets to enjoy the day with his friends and family, spending time outside, getting presents and throwing them aside for the next ones, and hopefully seeing how his Cool Dad™ and Cooler Mom™ love him to fucking death. Here’s to another year of worrying about every little step he takes, thing he eats, jump he makes, and getting to enjoy my best friend for just a little while longer – until he turns into a teenager and starts hating me for no reason.
