Battenwear founder Shinya Hasegawa is really good at pinpointing precisely what makes outdoor gear from the 1960s – 1980s so great, and then incorporating that into his designs. Case in point, this US-made Batten-Down Parka combines classic mountain parka styling with a tough, water-resistant NyCo shell, and 670 Fill Power 80 / 20 duck down insulation. So even though it’s a nod to the past, it still looks and feels right at home today. It’s also on sale for $455 (down from $759) at BlackBlue. Get it before it’s gone like the era that inspired it.
