On the list of brands I don’t own but have always been curious about, New York’s Unis is right at the top. Between the label’s consistently excellent lookbooks, steadfast commitment to American manufacturing, and high-quality / low-statement clothing, there’s a lot I find appealing. However, I haven’t been able to bring myself to pull the trigger on any of their stuff before, because, well, it’s pretty damn expensive. Thankfully, even the priciest of brands still have end of season sales. Handcrafted in NYC from Italian cotton twill, the Gio Pants have been called the best non-denim trousers on the market by an almost silly number of publications (seriously, just Google it). And now that they’re down from a wince-inducing $230, to a far more stomach-able $160, it’s looking like I’ll finally have a chance to put those claims to the test, and quench my Unis curiosities once and for all. That is, if I can settle on a color.
