Whenever The Hill-Side releases a new lookbook, it’s pretty much a guarantee that I’ll illustrate (at least) two looks from it. This is one my favorites from their Spring / Summer 2016 campaign. The vase that holds the flowers matches the shirt and tie!
What I love most about this shot is the art direction: quirky, whimsical and fun. I start to imagine this man and his world. He’s just come from a long lunch with friends in his twill chino suit. He’s had a few glasses of wine, and it’s warm out so the shoes have come off. Somewhere along the way he picked up a bouquet of flowers, and now he’s just quietly taking in the spring sun.
Two of my favorite ladies have teamed up to make some very special shirts. Sadie Roberts, one half of women’s shirting brand Tradlands, and Lizzie Garrett Mettler, the brilliant mind behind Tomboy Style and The Reed, have co-designed three staples every woman needs in her closet. I illustrated The Striped Palmer because it’s the one I want most!
Arpenteur is a brand I always forget to keep an eye on. This Over Coat by the French brand might be exactly what I’ve been looking for for years. I love the corduroy detailing paired with the wool.
Jules Davies is another lady that I can’t get enough of. She is a photographer for Chaco, Teva, Snow Peak, Ursa Major and others. She hikes, fly fishes, camps and has a generally fun life. What I love most is her unique style and knack for details, as evidenced by this Instagram shot of her monogrammed denim jacket.
