January was the month of the mens shows, so naturally I had to illustrate some of my favorite street style shots. I love this image for so many reasons. His look is timeless! Yes, the glasses are a bit retro but they are designed beautifully. I’m a big fan of the tonal layering of his navy knit jumper and blazer. The pop of white – from what looks like a trusty cotton turtleneck – adds a nice dose of contrast. I also love the expression and the motion that photographer Suzanne Middlemass captured in this moment.
This young man also has a great knack for layering – especially with the collars of his denim shirt and black chore coat. The double breasted houndstooth feels quite fresh in that shade of green. Original photo was taken by Suzanne Middlemass.
I love the way this guy rocks an all-olive kit, without look overly fatigue(d). And the shape of the jacket and the pants also suit each other quite well. Yet another photo by for Suzanne Middlemass.
There is nothing about this photo from the Marni collection by Tommy Ton that I don’t love. The shapes, folds, and colors remind me of a Vermeer painting. I would frame this honestly. My illustration doesn’t do it justice.
Noburo is one of my favorite gentlemen to illustrate. He dresses impeccably, but without fuss or pomp. I aspire to dress more like him honestly. I have a feeling he’s a wonderful person as well, his expression is so calm and pleasing. Photo also taken by Tommy Ton.
