Melania Trump has filed a defamation suit against the Daily Mail for ruining her “once-in-a-Lifetime opportunity” to profit off her position as First Lady of the United States of America.
The suit, which is seeking damages of $150 million, alleges that Mrs. Trump stood to make millions through fashion and apparel licensing, marketing, and endorsements deals, as she was about to become “one of the most photographed women in the world.” But that those opportunities were destroyed when the Daily Mail published an article alleging that she once worked as an “elite escort.”
In addition to tarnishing her image, her lawyer said the article also “impugned her fitness to perform her duties as First Lady of the United States” and caused her “significant humiliation in the community and emotional distress.”
Meanwhile, critics say the only once-in-a-lifetime opportunity Melania should be focusing on is the First Lady’s ability to affect positive change on the myriad social issues currently facing our country.
