Welcome to Cool Dads™, a series in which our resident cool dad, Nick Grant, helps us all get dressed.
Have you ever been to a young child’s birthday party? It is actual hell on earth. All those screaming kids hopped up on sugar like they just took a bump. The only good thing about them is when the parents provide booze, because that’s the only way you’re going to make it through alive. There’s very little “chilling,” so the key to handling these events (other than the booze) is to have comfortable clothes that allow you to move swiftly. But, you can’t be so dapper-ed up that the other parents will turn on you. You don’t want those problems. Just stick to a well-made, good-looking denim shirt over a lightweight T-shirt so that you’re cute enough for the moms to lightly flirt with you, but not enough to make your wife want to fight them. A pair of slim-but-not-too-slim cotton fatigue pants and the softest ever leather slip-ons are key, as they keep some very precious body parts comfortable while preventing overheating. Did I mention booze is a mandatory?
