Trump Sweatshop Conditions Bad Even for a Sweatshop

Buzzfeed took a trip to the Honduran sweatshop that made shirts for Donald Trump’s eponymous menswear line, before the line was dropped from retailers due to racist comments he made during a campaign speech.

In a series of interviews with over a dozen factory workers, Buzzfeed uncovered dangerous and inhumane working conditions, that included sweltering temperatures, verbally abusive supervisors, repeated illnesses from unsanitary cafeteria food, and an on-site doctor who refused to treat or acknowledge work-related injuries. “We suffer from the moment we come in until the moment we leave,” said one of the employees.

“You are enslaved by the production goals,” said another worker, who recounted how employees would deprive themselves of water for fear that bathroom breaks could cause them to miss their quotas and lose their desperately needed pay of $61 a week / $1.60 per hour.

Ironically, while the factory workers had spent countless hours sewing shirts with Trump’s name, few knew who he was, as they were too focused on “trying to feed their families.”

You can read more about the factory over at Buzzfeed. What do you guys think? Does Trump’s use of sweatshops contradict his campaign rhetoric about bringing manufacturing jobs back to the US?
