Welcome to Cool Dads™, a series in which our resident cool dad, Nick Grant, helps us all get dressed.

He’s had birthday parties before. All of them have been at our house with family and close adult friends who have children that Oliver normally plays with. But this one? #5? THIS one was special, because he got to have it at a venue AND invite his classmates. This is a huge deal for a five-year old child, so we couldn’t fuck it up. And that includes making sure we’re dressed to his approval.

You gotta stay nimble, and some track pants will allow you to move freely and comfortably, while the pocket tee and haori have to breathe – like you’ll need to remind yourself to do, dealing with all these damn kids. And easygoing sneakers that aren’t too sporty, but that’ll allow you to chase down the manager of the establishment when some shit doesn’t go as planned, because any and everything must be done with precision, to ensure the birthday is unforgettable, even though he will undoubtedly never remember.
