A fitting homage to the co-founder of the city of Portland (after whom it’s named), the bag is designed and built to take on the worst and wettest of a Pacific Northwest winter. Vanport Outfitters Laurent Sauve Beach Sling


Of course, it’s only when I finally start to warm up to the idea of the impending season change that I discover this piece of pitch-perfect summer portage from Portland, Oregon’s Vanport Outfitters. Called the “Laurent Sauvé Beach Sling,” the bag may just be the second best accompaniment to a pair of boat shoes I’ve ever seen (the first best being a boat). And, because it’s handcrafted from heavy-duty 20 oz cotton duck (and finished with solid brass hardware and reclaimed dock line for the straps and cinch-top), the bag has all the brawn necessary to keep it a perennial favorite for years to come.
