N’East Illustrated, Vol. 27

This month, I was inspired by the 2014 Newport Folk Festival. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to be there in person, which bummed me out, but I was able to attend vicariously through the excellent coverage of the event on the festival’s Tumblr. Below are a few of my favorite photos from the weekend.

I discovered Benjamin Booker this year when I saw him open for Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers at The Sinclair here in Boston. He’s now a favorite.

Rhode Island natives Deer Tick showed up to their set decked out in white tuxedos. Perfect blend of class and humor.

Houndmoth singer Katie Toupin looked great – love the tie front blouse.

This shot of Band of Horses singer Ben Bridwell is from Refinery29 and was taken by Nina Westervelt. Love the perfectly placed American flag behind him.

Another new favorite for me this year is Shakey Graves – his voice is incredible. I found this photo of him on the bluegrass blog Grass Clippings.
