Nice Work x The Blackacre Wallets

These Nice Work x The Blackacre Wallets are a collaboration between the newly launched, American-maker focused webzine Nice Work, and the California-based leather goods co. The Blackacre. Limited to 12 pieces, the wallets are handmade out of a single hide from Sweden’s Tärnsjö tannery, which is one of the only tanneries in the world that uses organic vegetable-based tanning. I’ll warn you guys right now, the price on these is pretty high, but between the unique design, limited numbers, and incredible quality, the bragging rights are too.

I wonder if using US tannery would have brought the $$ down to a bit more approachable range, because the design itself already set it apart from the current US-made line of products in the market. I would most definitely be all over these if they make one of them in a natural bridle or veg. tanned shells from domestic tannery.

Have a look at — The Blackacre makes most of their stuff out of American or British leathers that might be more your speed. This hide from Tärnsjö was actually leftover from a project at Shelter Half — so believe it or not, the cost of the wallet is all design and production (The Blackacre’s time) — it’s just that unique a design which is that difficult to execute!
