Ever since backing them on Kickstarter – I’ve replaced my whole drawer with Flint and Tinder boxer briefs. They are amazing.

  • camp6ell

Two big ommissions… Choctaw Ridge has comprehesive range of boxers and more… Ibex has very nice merino wool efforts.

    • http://www.well-spent.com/ Well Spent

Ibex only has two underwear styles, and only one of those styles is US-made, so I opted to leave them off the list.

As for CR, this list is of the best US-made underwear, not the most wildly overpriced.

      • camp6ell

oh, i thought you were “Rounding up the best looking, best fitting, and
best made American briefs, boxers and boxer-briefs.” My mistake…

for the record, choctaw ridge full price starts at $75 for two; which i used to think was less than $85 for one pair of ramblers way, less than $42 for SA, or $40 for SJ… again, my mistake.

similarly, ibex offers one pair of us made underwear, which, in old math, is the same as the number offered by ramblers way. but once again, my mistake.

sorry for offering some constructive additions.

        • http://www.well-spent.com/ Well Spent

          Well, that escalated quickly.

I own several pairs of CR briefs and boxer-briefs, and I honestly don’t think they’re worth the cost. So, my comment about them being overpriced is based on my own personal experience / opinion. Also, the CR boxers start at $106 for two, which is more than SA and SJ. Only the briefs are $75 for two.

As for Ibex vs Ramblers Way, that’s a fair point. For the record I’m a huge Ibex fan (hence our numerous posts on the brand). I just wasn’t particularly wowed by their single American-made underwear offering.

You left out my personal favorite — comfortable, affordable, easily order-able and made in the U.S.A., all from REI: http://www.rei.com/product/862585/rei-boxer-briefs-mens

    • http://www.well-spent.com/ Well Spent

      Nice addition. Thanks for those.

  • pat3rnal

How about Special Delivery? Any reason it was left off the list?

    http://specialdeliverynyc.com/

    • bpoliva

glad to see this – I was just in the middle of posting a Special Delivery mention …

      • http://www.well-spent.com/ Well Spent

Thanks guys, that’s a new one to me. Have either of you gone hands-on with the product? Are the very, very high prices justified?

        • bpoliva

I can’t say with sure confidence yet, as I’m about to receive my first pair in the mail next week …

        • pat3rnal

I’ve got a few of the Special Delivery boxer-briefs and briefs; they’re durable, soft, comfortable, and fit well. However, these were my recent upgrade from American Apparel, which are shit. I’ve also tried Schiesser from Germany (manufactured in Czech), and the Specials were much more comfortable, form-fitting, and felt more durable. After researching Sunspel, Choctaw, and Ramblers. Sleepy Jones is next — thanks for that!

  • david

Wasn’t there an advertisement for Choctaw Ridge on the site before? Really great stuff. I guess ‘overpriced’ is all based on the taste level of the critic…

  • Jeremy

Any reason Wickers (http://www.wickers.com/) and Union House (http://www.unionlabel.com/) were left out of the comparison? I’ve owned AA, UH, and Wickers and am still on the hunt for more USA made similarly priced pairs. Thanks.

  • Kip

Rambler’s Way boxers seem great at first but they break down very quickly. They are still pretty new to the garment industry and have already revised their boxers in a heaver 5 ounce vs. 4 ounce wool. Even still, the boxers get holes pretty fast. I contacted the folks at RW and they sent me their newer pairs which also fell susceptible to holes within 5-6 months. Sucks to pay so much for these and have them wear out so soon. Don’t buy them.

  • Chip2stan

It doesn’t look like any of these would fit me. I have a penis.

  • Mark

I just received a pair of Blade + Blue boxers, and in my experience so far, they are great. Great service too.

  • David J

I found in the REI stores they have their own branded boxer briefs made in USA. They are a little pricy at $22 a pair but the material is 92% polyester and 8% spandex and they fit extremely well. What I like about them is how they wick the sweat and do not roll up at the legs when I wear my jeans.
