The West is Dead Duck Canvas Chinos

The Duck Canvas Chinos from The West is Dead are handcrafted in the USA from – you guessed it – 100% cotton duck canvas. Designed “with comfort in mind,” the “fit for any occasion” pants feature a roomy hip, slightly higher than average rise, and a slim, tapered leg (14″ opening, in case you’re curious). Additional details include custom forged brass hardware, a button fly, fully taped inner seams, and mismatched pockets in the back. Newly launched Aloha Sunday has ‘em in two colors, and from now until 10/24, the shipping is free with code VERYWELLSPENT (code can be applied to all orders over $15).

I’ve been eyeing some denim from this company. Any insights on their fit/quality? They seem like the real deal. Thanks.

The fit is slim, with a little room at the top – 14″ leg opening is about is small as you can get without becoming a skinny jean. Seams are all triple-stitched.

And, Aloha Supply has ‘em for about $50 less than the WiD site. Not a bad gamble.

    Nice! Thanks for the info!

    Hey Cory,

I’ve tried on their denim. They have two fits the slim and the work.

The slim is more of a slim straight so NOT skinny. It is comfortable in the seat and thigh while still remaining slim and it tapers down very subtlety.

the work rise is similar just…bigger. more of a streetwear fit if you could call it that.

feel free to e-mail me if you need additional measurements on any size…we stock the slim fit raw.

Thanks, Michael. That’s good to know as well. Any chance you’ll start carrying the Slim Resin?

    Cory-

Probably not. We’re trying to introduce the selvedge denim world to San Diego..it’s not easy. That being said that was our second favorite style and we were considering getting that style but couldn’t do to budget constraints.

But we could check with West to special order a pair for you if you’d like.

I might take you up on that, Michael. Thanks for the offer. I’ve bookmarked your site, so I’ll be in touch.

I own a pair of these in green and they’re amazing. The fabric is neither too soft nor too stiff and they go with just about everything.

My only complaint is that the buttons aren’t fastened particularly well, but a little reinforcement with a needle and thread solves that.

I had to size up with these. I’m normally a 32/33, but I take a 34 in these pants.

      Thanks for the intel Ian.

Update. Just saw the most recent version of these. Think they must have heard about the loose buttons on previous versions, because the new ones have rivit buttons instead of sewn on ones.

They look great and still fit the same.

    Ian-

Yes all the ones we have have riveted buttons as well. Thanks!
