The Asa Lovejoy Bag from Oregon’s Vanport Outfitters is handcrafted from domestically sourced waxed cotton, and vegetable tanned Latigo leather. A fitting homage to the co-founder of the city of Portland (after whom it’s named), the bag is designed and built to take on the worst and wettest of a Pacific Northwest winter. However, the Asa’s real draw – even more so than its ability to handle the elements – is its versatility. Through a simple adjustment of the shoulder straps, the bag can be converted from a rucksack to a tote (and back again). It’s the kind of clever detail that makes you wonder why no one else has come up with something like it before. But then again, even if someone else had, it’s doubtful they would have been able to execute it so handsomely. Two colorways are available, and shipping (within the US) is free.
